Privacy Policy

MenuBento does not collect, transmit or sell your data. The app has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party code that reports back to anyone.

Who is responsible

MenuBento is developed and published by Szekely Karoly, an individual developer based in Romania ("I", "me"). For anything about privacy, write to support@szekelykaroly.org.

What stays on your Mac

Everything MenuBento works with is stored locally in the app's own sandboxed storage and never sent to me:

• Clipboard history. Text, links, images and files you copy, so you can search and paste them later. MenuBento skips items that password managers mark as confidential, and skips the apps you exclude in Settings. You can delete single clips or the whole history at any time.
• Settings, shortcuts, window layouts and scenes.
• System readings such as CPU, memory, disk, network throughput and battery level. They are shown to you and discarded.
• Window and tab titles of your open apps, read only to list them in the switcher and to save scenes.

Processing on your Mac

Text recognition in Grab and in copied images uses Apple's Vision framework on your Mac. Text actions in Polish use Apple's on-device language model. Neither sends your text or images to me or to any server I operate.

iCloud

If you are signed in to iCloud, MenuBento stores some settings in your iCloud account so they follow you between your Macs. If you turn on sync in Clips (a Pro feature), your clipboard history is also stored in your private iCloud database. This data is held by Apple under your Apple Account and Apple's privacy policy. I cannot see or access it. Turning sync off, or deleting the app's data in iCloud settings, removes it.

Purchases

MenuBento Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; I never receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple gives me sales reports that do not identify you.

Permissions the app asks for

• Accessibility: to move and resize windows, switch between them, paste clips, lock the keyboard in Wipe and read the text you have selected for Polish.
• Screen Recording: only when you use Grab, to read the part of the screen you select.
• Calendar: only if you ask Awake to keep the Mac awake until your current meeting ends. Events are read on your Mac and not stored.
• Folders you choose: Sweep looks only inside the folders you pick.

Each permission is optional and can be withdrawn in System Settings › Privacy & Security. The features that depend on it stop working; the rest of the app continues.

This website and email

This website uses no cookies and no analytics. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes your IP address and browser details in short-lived server logs to deliver pages and keep the service secure. If you email me, I keep your message and address only to answer you and delete them when the matter is closed, unless you ask me to delete them sooner.

Children

MenuBento is a general-purpose utility. It is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Your rights

Because I hold no personal data about you from the app, there is nothing for me to export, correct or delete. Your data is on your Mac and in your iCloud, under your control. If you have emailed me, you can ask for a copy or deletion of that correspondence at any time. If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. In Romania that is the ANSPDCP (dataprotection.ro).

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new effective date. If a future version of the app ever handled data differently, the change would be described here before that version is released.
